The new Yahoo/Egroups merge is just awful. It's very confusing and difficult for someone like me who maintains mailing lists under two different email addresses, neither of which are Yahoo email. Yet I do have a Yahoo account as well which I use mainly for junk mail or to occasionally join online clubs. I miss the good olds days when it was just OneList, before it became Egroups. I am half tempted to convert all my lists to Topica but who knows if they'll end up merging with someone eventually too. Grrrrr.....

Hooray! Our satellite stuff came via UPS today! I've wanted movie channels forever and ever. I am probably one of the few people who has never had HBO or any other movie channels in her lifetime. We couldn't afford it when I still lived at home in my teens. When I was in my younger 20's and single I couldn't afford it on my own either. Shortly after I got together with Tom and bought our house, we had pirated free cable from the previous owner. So we kept it but that meant we couldn't upgrade to movie channels otherwise they'd know we were getting it free. Duh. Then we moved to Colorado, and didn't get it during our temporary apartment stint before our house was finished. Once we moved in, I started harping about HBO but the hubby insisted we get satellite instead. Being the procrastinators we are, it's taken two years for that to happen. I am really excited and I suppose it's a good thing that such simple stuff like satellite tv makes me happy.

I went to see the movie Snatch last night with my friend Jinx. It's definitely confusing and slow at first but then it picks up speed, becomes hilarious and has a very cool ending. I thought it was great.

On the day I was born (2-9-69), the #1 song was Crimson and Clover by Tommy James and the Shondells. To be honest, I can't hear this version in my head because I first heard the Joan Jett version in the early 80's. Thanks to Heather for the link.

Happy Chinese New Year!

I think the cabin fever is getting to me. I am in a very foul mood with nothing but negative thoughts runing through my mind. It's one of those days where my life seems miserable and I have nothing to look forward to. Poor me.

I find Christina Aguilera completely and thoroughly annoying. Ok, got that off my chest! LOL

When I was in the 7th grade I read a book called Pardon Me, You're Stepping On My Eyeball. I was so taken with it that I went on to read all of Paul Zindel's books I could get my hands on. Eventually I sort of forgot about Paul Zindel but now that I am going down memory lane thinking of books to buy for Brenna's library, I happened to think of him again. I'd like to reread all of his books to see if my perception of them has changed over the years. I was very young and naive the first time I read them which is why I thought they were so darkly fascinating. The characters were like nobody I knew in podunk midwest North Dakota.

The internet is such a magical thing. I think of something, and WHAM I have the information at my fingertips. I can't imagine living without it now.

I am still sick. Not the kind of sick where I feel knocked off my ass. I just have a nagging little cough with a tremendously sore scratchy throat. I suppose this means another day at home since I don't want to expose any of my friends' kids to whatever it is I have. To make things worse, Brenna now has a little cough too. So I am guessing she now has whatever I caught from Tom which means she's had two different colds right after the other. This sucks. I haven't socialized with any of my friends or participated in any kid activities in over two weeks. If it weren't for all the hubbub getting Tom's mom and grandma settled into their new home down here, than I really would have been stuck at home completely. Since Saturday, we've been over there to visit, help with things and take them shopping a couple times. It's something at least.

The first annual Weblog Awards are up for votes. I am not totally familiar with many of the nominees even though I read dozens of weblogs. (not just the ones in my blogs list) I had to do a lot of quick skimming and reading to become familiar with them all. Honestly, I was a bit dismayed that some of the really good weblogs I read weren't there, some of which are much better than the finalists. What a disappointment. Or are the weblog awards a cliquish thing and I am just clueless?

I've been too busy to blog lately, and now I have a cold. I had to cancel playgroup today because it was my turn to host. Most of the other kids and moms are sick too so it wasn't much of a group for today anyway. It would have been nice to see at least one other mom though. We haven't socialized in two weeks due to all the sickness going around! Brenna seems to be all better for the most part.

I think she is getting a new tooth on the bottom. For the months she's only had three of four bottom middle teeth, I think now the fourth is finally poking through. Now if she would only pop out some molars.
